Mather Hospital Achievement in Health Care Award
By Harbor View Medical Services, PC
John T. Mather Memorial Hospital has been named Hospital of the Year for the 2016 Achievements in Health Care Awards, presented by Long Island Business News.
Mather received the Hospital of the Year award based on the success of its Voyage to Excellence cultural transformation program that raised patient satisfaction scores from consistently below the 20th percentile in 2008 to 89% to 98% over the last four ratings periods. Our Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) scores, which are measured by the Federal Government’s Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS), are among the highest on Long Island.
Earlier this year, the CMS awarded Mather four stars – the highest of any Long Island hospital – for patient experience, safety, and timely and effective care measures based on publicly reported data from the HCAHPS Survey. Mather also is the only hospital in New York State to receive nine consecutive top “A” Hospital Safety Scores from The Leapfrog Group; was ranked among the best hospitals in New York by U.S. News & World Report; and earned Magnet® Designation in 2013 from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
